Signing In
Your Bits account and backup settings control how you sign in, where your material is stored, and how you can access it on the web or another device. Here’s how to manage them.
Bits supports:
- Sign in with Apple – Use your Apple ID. You can choose “Hide My Email” and still sync your data.
- Sign in with Google – Use your Google account.
To keep your material in sync across iPhone and web, use the same sign-in method and account on both. If you switch devices or reinstall the app, sign in with that same account so your bits, sets, and labels come back. For step-by-step sync and troubleshooting, see “How to sync your material between iPhone and web in Bits.”
Backup and Sync (Subscription)
- Backup in Bits means your material is stored in the cloud and synced across your devices and the web. This is part of a Bits subscription (Pro).
- In the More tab, the backup row shows whether backup is On (subscribed, data synced) or Off (not subscribed, or not signed in). Tapping it opens the subscription flow so you can subscribe or manage your plan.
- When backup is on, your bits, sets, labels, shows, and set histories are backed up and available on the web and on any device where you’re signed in with the same account.
Web Access
- Subscribed users can use Bits on the web (e.g. thebits.club or the URL shown in the app). Sign in there with the same Apple or Google account you use in the app. Your material will sync between the app and the web.
Backup Issues
If your material is missing or not syncing:
- More > Backup issues (or similar) opens a short guide with common cases:
- Switched phones – Sign in on the new phone with the same Apple or Google account. Once backup is on and synced, your material should appear.
- Using the right account – Make sure you’re signed in with the account you used when your material was last visible. Different Apple or Google accounts mean different data.
For more detailed troubleshooting, see “Troubleshooting backup and sync in Bits.”
Summary
- Sign in with Apple or Google and use the same account everywhere.
- Turn backup on (subscribe) so your material is synced and safe.
- Use web access with the same account when you’re subscribed.
- Use Backup issues and the troubleshooting article if something’s missing.
