Define Your Bit
Bit properties let you define and organize each bit: length, status, stage status, title, labels, sets, and more. Open them from any bit by tapping the gear icon in the toolbar.
- Length – Set how long the bit runs (e.g. for set timing). You can use auto timing (based on words per second), manual entry, or Time me to record yourself and set the length. See “How to time your bits and use Time me” for details.
- Status – Draft, done, gold, setup, tag, punchline, development, or ready for stage. Use this to track where the bit is in your writing process.
- Stage status – Tracks how ready the bit is for performance (e.g. untested, tested, keeper).
- Title – Edit the bit’s title from here if you prefer.
Organize with Labels and Sets
- Labels – Tap to add or remove labels. Labels are tags (e.g. topic or theme) that help you filter and find bits.
- Sets – Tap to add or remove sets. Sets are the ordered lists you use for a show or open mic.
Assigning a bit to sets and labels makes it easy to find from the Material tab and to build set lists in the Sets and Shows areas.
Pro Features
- Version history – (Pro) View a history of significant changes to the bit’s content. Helpful for comparing drafts or reverting ideas.
- Feedback – (Pro) Get AI-generated feedback on the bit and suggested edits. Use it to tighten punchlines or structure.
Other Actions
- Print – Print the bit (or use it when printing a set) for paper backup or set lists.
- Delete – Permanently delete the bit. Use with care; deletion cannot be undone.
Conclusion
Bit properties are the control center for each bit. Use length and status to plan sets, labels and sets to stay organized, and Pro features to refine and track your material.
