How to Use the Cowriter in Bits

Where to Find the Cowriter

The Cowriter in Bits is an AI-assisted tool that helps you develop a bit step by step: from a topic or idea through setup, development, and punchline. You can start from the Comedy Gym tab or turn an existing bit into a Cowriter bit.

How the Cowriter Flow Works

The Cowriter walks you through structured steps:

  1. Topic – Enter the idea or topic for the bit. This gives the AI (and you) a clear focus.
  2. Setup – Develop the setup: context, premise, or opening that leads into the joke.
  3. Development – Expand the middle: build the situation, add details, or layer in more ideas.
  4. Punchline – Shape the payoff. The Cowriter can suggest directions; you choose what fits your voice.

At each step you can type your own lines, use AI suggestions as inspiration, or mix both. The result is a single bit that lives in your Material like any other bit—you can then edit it, add notes, set length and status, and add it to sets and labels.

Tips for Best Results

After the Cowriter

Once the bit is created, use bit properties to set length, status, and stage status, and add it to labels and sets. You can also get AI feedback on the bit (Pro) from the properties screen to refine it further.
